In the Church of God there is nothing more holy, nothing more useful, nothing more excellent nor more divine than the Sacraments established by Christ Our Lord for the salvation of mankind. Amongst all the other sacraments of the New Law instituted by Christ, Holy Baptism holds the first place, being the entry gate into the Christian religion and into everlasting life, and having necessarily to be received by all men for salvation in reality or at least in desire. (Rit. I, 2 & II, 1)

This booklet concentrates on infant baptism, since this is by far the most frequent, and since it is most often with infant baptism that preparation is most seriously defective. The immediate effect of infant baptism does not depend upon the child’s disposition, but assuredly its long term effect for the sanctification and salvation of the child’s soul is very much dependent on the preparation of both parents and godparents.

In order to facilitate the preparation for the sacrament of Baptism by parents and godparents, you will find in this booklet not only a summary of the principal truths concerning the sacrament of Baptism, but also a description of the ceremony, an explanation of the duties of godparents, an explanation of the ceremony of the Churching of women, and an act of consecration of a child to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
They are inexpensive enough that everyone can have one, allowing family and friends to fully concentrate on the rich ceremonial the Church provides for creating new members of the Mystical Body of Christ. The “Ceremonies of Baptism” section for infants is in Latin and English for the faithful to follow along.

EVERY CHURCH AND CHAPEL SHOULD HAVE THESE AVAILABLE TO THE FAITHFUL!

Chapters include: On Holy Baptism by Fr. Franz Schmidberger, Church Teaching About Baptism, The Ceremonies of Baptism, The Serious Obligations of Godparents, The Churching of Women, Blessing of a Woman after Childbirth and of Her Child, Consecration of a Child to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, The Rite for the Baptism of Adults, The Reception of Converts.
